Picture yourself in the big leagues

A crowd-pleasing technology that builds brand and fan loyalty

Combining the enduring hobby of baseball card collecting with the memorable experience of attending a major league game, Perfect Prototype and exhibit firm Dimensional Innovations created an interactive photography kiosk at the Kansas City Royals’ Kaufmann Stadium as a marketing tool for Sprint.

Three challenges :

  • Time :
    The kiosk had to be up and running before the season started within weeks.
  • Environment :
    The outdoor kiosk – and especially its sensitive equipment – had to withstand scorching summer heat and cold October nights.
  • Lighting :
    Lighting conditions varied from very bright, direct sunlight to dim dusk, and to full-stadium lighting for night games.

How it works
Perfect Prototype and colleagues successfully met all challenges, and engineered an interactive that:

  • collected the user’s email address and other contact information;
  • snapped a digital photo of each visitor with a panoramic view of the field as the backdrop;
  • created a baseball card that incorporated the user’s name, the date, and the Royals’ opponent that day, which used data downloaded from the Royals’ website;
  • instantly emailed the printable baseball card to the user;
  • and uploaded the user data to Sprint.
